Juneteenth Celebration at Wave Hill

Celebrate Juneteenth with an evening of performances, artmaking and more! Learn how dance and movement can highlight personal expression and history with a workshop led by the Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet. Featuring a performance with students from PS 70 in the Bronx. Take inspiration from the rings of a tree. Discover its story paint your own colorful journey on a tree pendant. The evening concludes with a moving performance by the Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet that explores the history and legacy of the Black experience in America. All ages are welcome.
4:30PM – 6:30PM: Tree Pendant Painting Station
5:30PM: Dance Workshop led by Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet
6:30PM: Performance by students from PS 70 in the Bronx
7:00PM: Performance by Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet
Picnicking permitted all evening on our Great Lawn. Bring your own or purchase specialty menu items from our Café, including kids meal options.
Glyndor Gallery, The Café and Shop are open until 7:30PM
The event takes place on the Great Lawn. Visitors may bring folding chairs and blankets. Picnicking is permitted for this special community event.

In the event of inclement weather, this event will move inside to Wave Hill House. Pre-registered tickets to the “Rain or Shine” option receive priority seating and same-day registration not guaranteed. Pre-registration to the “Shine only” option does not guarantee seating to the event if moved indoors.
