For Ages 8 & up

When do the flowers bloom? When do the leaves fall? We are very curious to find out! Be a scientist for the day and help Sam’s Point staff monitor seasonal changes in our plant communities. During this family program, we’ll observe and identify blooming, fruiting, and budding native plants along a three-mile loop hike around Lake Maratanza.

This program is recommended for adults and children over the age of eight, accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Participants should come prepared with water, snacks, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear. All unvaccinated participants are encouraged to wear face coverings and keep a minimum six-foot distance away from others who are not part of their immediate household. All visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are encouraged to wear a mask when inside buildings. Meet at the Sam’s Point Visitor Center. Pre-registration is required by calling Sam’s Point at 845-647-7989.

See the Mansion draped in Victorian-lore and candlelight!

Friday, October 29 – Sunday, October 31, 2021

4:30 – 7:30 pm

Tours run every 15 minutes      BUY TIX NOW

You’ve experienced the splendor of the Mansion during the day, but have you seen it draped in candlelight? New for this Halloween Season, come and experience the history of the Mansion and explore Victorian lore in the glow of an October evening; Lyndhurst After Dark! Timed entry into the Mansion allows visitors to walk through the house as it is decorated in the spirit of the season, with special collections and items on display relating to the superstitions of the age.

This is not a theater performance, as we have retired Jay Ghoul’s House of Curiosities, but a semi-guided tour through the Mansion in the evening hours, that will discuss the slightly darker side of history through those who lived at Lyndhurst. Visitors will get a chance to experience the architecture, decor, and collection items on display while listening to our talented staff regale about the traditions of the past.

Refreshments will be available for purchase on-site from Geordanes of Irvington. Snack items; Orange and black cookies and cider doughnuts. Hot and cold beverages; coffee, hot and cold cider.

As New York State continues to evaluate pandemic-related restrictions, Lyndhurst requires all visitors to provide proof of full Covid vaccination (14 days after the final shot) and continue to wear masks indoors at this time as a courtesy to fellow visitors and staff. Guests who are not vaccinated and children aged 2-11  who wish to join an indoor tour must provide proof of a negative COVID PCR test administered no sooner than 72 hrs. We will continue to evaluate these policies and make changes in the future, as appropriate.

All visitors must have a pre-purchased ticket to enter the Mansion. A limited number of tickets are available for each timed event and tickets do sell out. Please present printed tickets or have them available on your smartphone to show to Welcome Center staff when checking in for your timed event.

THE NICETIES
by Eleanor Burgess
Directed by Jammie Patton

A black student visits her white professor during office hours to discuss her paper on the American Revolution. But the polite review of her thesis soon explodes into a high-stakes debate over race, history, power, and revolution. And when it goes public, what’s been said can’t be unsaid, and both women face the consequences.
This timely new play is the inaugural production at SHADOWLAND’s new black box theatre, The Studio at SHADOWLAND STAGES, located at the corner of Market Street and Center Street in Ellenville, NY.
