We’ll use some of the tools we made in Part 1 to harvest materials to make cordage and learn how to use a loom to create rafts, clothing, window covers, mats and more. We’ll learn about the lifestyle and culture of the Lenape by participating in the activities common to their lives.

Help us fight back invasive species in the park and promote the restoration of native plants and by extension benefit native animals in the park. With over 30 invasive species present in the park, we need the help of our community to help restore this land support healthy native ecology. Join our Naturalist, Joe, and learn more about the impacts of invasive species plants as well as the invasive spotted lanternfly. Pack a lunch. Tools are provided. This is in conjunction with the Invasive Species-themed weekend

When preschool is out…it’s time for June Mini-Camp! Join us for fun and enrichment at our popular STEM program. Your child will spend the week being a nature detective, learning about the plant and animal wildlife around Sheldrake’s 60 acres. Time will be spent exploring the natural world, listening to nature stories, crafting, and playing games.

Now that we have the tools and materials we need to build a shelter, we will learn how to create a fully-functioning wigwam! We’ll learn about the importance of wigwams and other Lenape shelters such as longhouses. We’ll also learn how these living styles affected Lenape culture.
