Change Lives & Have Fun for a Great Cause!

    November 2020

    $25 / $15 Ages 12 & under & over 64

As we strive for a healthier and safer community and, thanks to technological advances, runners from anywhere can still participate with this year’s 17th Annual Turkey Trot 5K using the RaceJoy* app. The Turkey Trot 5K fundraiser has provided our programs with financial assistance that help to operate a food pantry, as well as services related to case management, domestic violence, adolescent programs, including restorative justice services, and pretty much, “any problem under the sun.”

    REGISTER ONLINE:

You can register now at: https://runsignup.com/Race/Register/?raceId=98508 or at www.newpaltzturkeytrot.com.

You will also need to download the RaceJoy app when you are ready to run the race.

    COVID GUIDELINES:

As the Turkey Trot typically brings in 1,000 or more runners, everyone’s safety during this year is our biggest priority! We do not encourage large gatherings and everyone should be sure to follow the appropriate safety guidelines at the time you run.

Shirts will be offered and available for pickup, to anyone participating locally, at Family of New Paltz.

    * The RaceJoy app will allow runners to (1) either run the route we would normally use (which would be downloaded on the app), or choose their own preferred route; (2) instead of holding this special event on one day, persons can now complete this run any time during the entire month of November and (3) persons are able to obtain their own sponsors and collect donations for the race directly through RaceJoy.

Haunted Huguenot Street Tours – On Site or Virtual!

    Friday, October 9, 2020 – Thursday, December 31, 2020

12 – 7 pm onsite or any time virtually in your own home

The Haunted Huguenot Street walking tour will take you on a chilling journey across the historic district as you are immersed in the eerie tales, paranormal sightings, criminal activity and unsolved mysteries of New Paltz, NY.

    Event Link

Now that we’ve officially entered “Spooky Season,” Historic Huguenot Street will be providing all of your ghostly, socially-distanced needs with our Haunted Huguenot Street walking tour! This debut app tour and scavenger hunt will take the place of our popular, theatrical Haunted tours that happen on site every October. But do not fear—they will be back next year!

Written in verse, the Haunted script offers an engaging medium of storytelling whether you are listening to the audio narration or reading along on your own. While the app is best enjoyed on site, you can take the plunge into the dark history of one of America’s oldest streets from the comfort of your couch, or wherever you are in the world. You will be provided with a map, clues, and photographs to find your way – the rest is up to you.

This new tour addition to the free HHS app (available now at the App Store and Go1gle Play) can be accessed for a small fee of $5. You can learn more about the Walking Tour app and how to download at https://www.huguenotstreet.org/app.

During this earth science-based program, families will embark on a short, gentle hike with a Museum Educator through the Bartow-Pell woods and learn about the plants and animals that call Pelham Bay Park home. Families will be able to observe flora and fauna in their natural habitat, as well as learn about the influence that humans have had on the land over time. The fall and winter seasons are the best time of year to explore the forest and coastline as seals can be seen sunbathing and migratory birds and wildlife are more visible during this time of year.

The losses in revenue from both cancelling programming and closing our Visitor Center has done significant damage to Teatown’s finances. We appreciate your support, which is critical to our non-profit organization during this time. Parking tags are again required. Parking tags are required daily, from 9am to 5pm. Click here for more information on our parking policy. Members will always park for free at Teatown.

    Donate

Teatown needs your support, now more than ever. To mitigate the transmission of COVID-19, we’ve had to close our Visitor Center and cancel programs, making it difficult for us to earn the revenue that funds our work. We welcome you to the preserve and ask you to please give a contribution today. Whether large or small, each donation will help support our staff, maintain our trails, and care for our wildlife ambassadors.
