Week 1:   7/15 & 7/17

Week 2:  7/22 & 7/24

Week 3:  7/29 & 7/31

Week 4:  8/5 & 8/7

Ages 8 – 12

Connected Kindness aims to create an awareness of the connection between humans and animals and how kindness bridges the gap between individuals of all ages, abilities, and species. The emphasis for Connected Kindness is on mutual understanding and awareness of our actions when interacting with others, whether those “others” are human or animal. Utilizing components of a nationally recognized humane education curriculum, Topfield’s “Connected Kindness” curriculum interweaves social justice and humane education aspects into a larger ecological perspective of the connection between all living beings, including the equines with whom Topfield partners in all our activities daily.

AMENIA – Sleepaway Summer Program for Kids with Special Needs @ Maplebrook School

The Summer Program at Maplebrook offers students a chance at a fun-filled 2-6 weeks of strengthening social skills while maintaining an academic edge throughout the summer break.

Sunday, June 30th –  Saturday, August 10th 2019

Maplebrook’s Summer Program has two different tracks:

  • An Academy track for younger students, ages 11-16, and,
  • A Postsecondary track for older students, ages 17-21

Mornings are spent by both groups working on academic skills. Academy students have afternoons set aside for activities—like local hikes, making ice cream, swimming, and educational field trips—while Postsecondary summer students spend their afternoons in work placements. All students have time scheduled in the evenings for Independent Living Skills and Recreation.

Maplebrook summer students spend their weekends exploring and enjoying the enchanting Northeast. Past summer weekend trip destinations include:

  • Brattleboro, VT
  • White Mountains, NH
  • Poconos, PA
  • Lake Compounce Theme & Water Park
  • Tidewater Environmental Center on the Hudson River
  • Jellystone Park in Greenfield Park and North Hudson, NY

NEWBURGH – FREE* Newburgh Open Movement @ Safe Harbors Lobby at the Ritz

Join us on as we co-create time and space for people of all walks of life to come together and enjoy three hours playful dancing, deep listening and mindful movement.

Saturday, June 29, 2019

Saturday, July 27, 2019

3 – 4 pm

Movement Workshop with Ophra Wolf

4 – 6 pm

Open Movement Jam with Live Music

Your donation helps to keep it going!

* $5 – $10 suggested donation for the jam, $15 for the workshop –

Open to all ages, creeds, abilities, colors, shapes and sizes!

The first hour of the event is a guided warm-up and movement awareness workshop led by Ophra Wolf of Force & Flow, followed by free and open time and space for you to move or observe as you please starting at 3 pm and featuring live music with monthly guest musicians.

Kids of all ages are welcome to the jam portion with adult supervision, the workshop at the start is suitable for adults and teenagers.

Movement and dance improvisation is about moving from the inside, in a way that feels good and organic to your body, and an Open Movement jam is a setting in which everyone is an equal part of co-creating the dance of the room.

You can come dance your heart out, and you can also just come to stretch quietly, listen, observe, draw and just enjoy the energy and focus of a room full of moving bodies. You can dance alone and you can dance with others, even your stillness is part of the dance that we’ll be co-creating.

It’s about tuning in – to your own body, to the space around you, and to the people you’re sharing it with.

The only requirement is willingness to look, listen and contribute your awareness – because it’s your awareness that’s making it all come to life.
