POUGHKEEPSIE – Learn to Skate @ McCann Ice Arena

Whether a skater’s goal is hockey, figure skating or recreational proficiency, this is the place to start!

This introductory program will teach your child the basic skills of skating, stick-handling, passing, and shooting through 10 one hour lessons. In addition, they will learn about hard-work and commitment. Best of all, your child’s registration includes a brand new set of CCM hockey equipment* custom fitted by our friends at Pure Hockey.

 

Daily format includes a 30 minute class during Private Skating School Session and 30 minutes of practice.  Caring instructors will teach and challenge each skater throughout the course(s). All basics will be taught from balance, strides, stops, turns, agility and more.

*If you have already participate in Learn to Play, you will not be eligible to receive any equipment

 

Snowplow Sam 1–4 | $125

Children ages 3–5 who have limited or no skating experience. Enroll in Snowplow Sam 1-2 if first time skater. Enroll in Snowplow Sam 3-4 if your tot has graduated Snowplow Sam 1-2 or if new to program but able to skate unassisted.

 

Basic Skills 1–6 & Pre-Free Skate | $200

Children ages 6–15 who have limited to advanced skating experience. Basic 3 and up are for all ages who have passed Snowplow Sam and Basic 1-2.

 

Hockey Skills 1–4 | $200

Designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. In four badge levels, skaters will learn how to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice. Proper skating techniques are the primary focus of the levels. All elements will be taught without a puck. Skaters will learn the necessary fundamentals to be successful in game situations.

 

Adult Classes | $200

Ages 16 & Up who have limited or no skating experience.

NEWBURGH – Learn to Skate Session 4 @ Ice Time Sports

 

Ice Time Sports Complex is the Hudson Valley’s premier ice skating facility for anyone wishing to pursue the sports of figure skating and ice hockey. We offer a Learn-to-Skate Program which follows USFSA (United States Figure Skating Association) curriculum for its levels of instruction in the basic skills.

 

7 SATURDAYS: Feb. 2—March 16, 12:45 – 1:45 pm

7 SUNDAYS: Feb. 3—March 17, 4:15 – 5:15 pm

7 MONDAYS: Feb. 4—March 18, 6 – 7 pm

Skaters receive one 30-minute group lesson and 30 minutes of practice each week for 7 weeks. Continuous enrollment will be allowed during the first 3 weeks of lessons or at the skating director’s discretion.

 

Rates per 7-week session: 

Snowplow Sam: $125
Basic Skills, Pre-Free Skate, Hockey Skills & Adult Lessons: $200

Skaters at ALL levels of Learn-to-Skate are invited to join Ice Time’s Figure Skating Team and participate in events throughout the year. 2 classes/week $520 or 1 class/week $320*
Rolling admission –  Pro-rating available

 

*Price includes:
❖ Weekly 30 minute group lesson
❖ Skate rental on lesson day & during Public Skating
❖ Public Skating on Tuesdays 3:00pm – 5:00pm & Saturdays 1:00pm – 2:30pm.

 

The Ice Hutch offers skating lessons all year-round for children (age 4+) and adults of all levels. The skating school is a proud member of the US Figure Skating Basic Skills Program. The mission of the Basic Skills Program is to provide a goal-oriented program that encourages ice skating at all levels and to enhance the quality of skating skills at these levels.

The objectives of the program are:

  • To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well as the more advanced skater.
  • To teach correct technique of the simple basic elements.
  • To promote health and physical fitness.
  • To enable all participants to achieve the skills necessary to either skate for fun the rest of their lives or to move competently into the U.S. Figure Skating advanced test and/or competitive structure.

Please note:

❖ New skaters ages 4-6 should register for Snowplow 1. New skaters ages 7 & up should register for Basic 1
❖ There are no refunds. Make-ups will not be offered for missed classes.
❖ Skaters in a class with less than 3 or greater than 12 skaters may be notified and moved to another time slot.
❖ All skaters will be issued a name tag, which must be worn every week to class AND to public skating.
❖ In the event of inclement weather please check www.icehutch.com for cancelations/closings.

 

Equipment:

❖ Helmets are required for all skaters ages 6 & under and for Hockey classes.
❖ Mittens or Gloves
❖ The rink temperature will vary. Layered clothing that does not restrict movement is recommended.
❖ Only 1 pair of thin socks should be worn with skates.
