Cooking Around The World Summer Camp at New Era Creative Space in Peekskill, NY

PEEKSKILL – Cooking & Art Around The World (Ages 5-9) @ New Era Creative Space (NECS)

During this exciting 3-day camp, we will focus on creating meals and art from different regions every day, and the kids will learn about new cultures through stories, art and geography.

Tuesday, August 13 – Thurdsay, August 15, 2019

9 am – 3 pm

Cooking in the morning and art in the afternoon

For Ages 5 – 9

When children learn about the world, they feel connected and grounded. The best way to teach children is through providing a hands-on experience and creative outlet. In this full-day camp, your children will learn important kitchen skills and will experience the richness of the cuisines and cultures around the world.

When children learn to cook, they learn how to take care of themselves and others. They love “doing it themselves” like the adults in their lives, and they taste new foods because they made it themselves. They will create art in many new ways, and they will express themselves while learning.

We use natural, seasonal and organic ingredients whenever available, and do not use nut-based products, raw meat or shellfish. We focus on introducing the small chefs to new cuisines, tastes and the cultures representing the recipes they cook.

Please bring a water bottle for the kids and a snack. We will prepare our own lunches to eat. Parents, please make sure that we are aware of any food allergies and texture aversions that your children may have.

* Limited Scholarships available for Peekskill residents. To apply for scholarship call (914) 930-1777 or email

KERHONKSON – Ropes: 4-Day Backpacking Adventure for High School Teens with Wild Earth

Ready for a backpacking adventure?

Join Wild Earth’s instructors for a 3-night, 4-day trek in the Catskills!

Monday, August 12 – Thursday, August 15, 2019

For Grades 9-12

When it comes to transformative outdoor experiences there is one type of trip that always sticks out: the long distance trek. There are many aspects to the experience that will shift how you feel and how you respond to the world around you. Through many miles of hiking, the quiet moments of observation and reflection, and the deep bonding that one experiences as part of a team, you can’t help but be transformed.

31.2 miles: The Hike

Our route will traverse 31.2 miles of Catskill trails, including the tallest peak in the Catskills (Slide Mountain), the greatest elevation gain for a single trail (2593’ at Peekamoose Mountain), and will bring us into wild forest and wilderness lands of the Catskill Forest Preserve (America’s first wilderness).

Aside from the physical and mental challenges we will face, we will also take time to learn about the ecological and cultural history of the areas we will pass through. No doubt this will be much more than a simple walk in the woods!

A Collaborative Adventure

Every day, we will come together as a pack to review the routes, evaluate our resources (ie: water, food, firewood), plan for meals and set up camp. We will also look at the distance we need to travel to meet our target, the current conditions and discuss how we might need to adjust our plan to ensure the safety or comfort of the group.

Those who participate in this journey will learn what it takes to cover large distances, with nothing but a well formed plan and what they can carry on their back. We look forward to sharing this journey with you and are excited to create lasting, memories with you, as you learn the skills that will prepare you for a life full of adventures.

Starting Location

Trails End Road, Kerhonkson, NY
