MIDDLETOWN- Paint Your Pet Fundraiser @ Pets Alive

Join us for an all-inclusive painting lesson at Pets Alive, in the big tent, with Maryanne Rappaport of Paint-Ur-Pet. Learn how to transform your favorite photo into a beautiful work of art!

Great for: Pet Photos – Memorial Pictures – Travel Photos – Special Occasions !

You supply an image of your pet(s) or subject and there will be a sketched canvas waiting for you at the event.

You can choose from realistic coloring to funky colors (think Andy Warhol). All supplies and instructions are supplied for you to create your very own masterpiece.

Pets not cooperating for one photo? No problem! Maryanne can combine up to four photos on to one canvas.

65% of the proceeds goes to the animals at Pets Alive!

One pet/subject 12”x 12” canvas – $45
Two pets/subjects 11”x 14” canvas – $60
Three pets/subjects 16”x 20” canvas – $75
Four pets/subjects 16″ x ”20” canvas – $100

DIY Kits must be picked up from Pets Alive in Middletown, NY – they will be available the day of the event and after the event.

CORNWALL- Maple Sugar Tours @ Hudson Highlands Nature Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center

On Saturday, February 23rd, come celebrate the special opening day of the maple sugar season at Hudson Highlands Nature Museum!

As winter ends, it’s maple sugaring time! Visit us to see, learn, and, most importantly, TASTE! Learn how to identify and tap sugar maple trees, discover sugaring techniques used by Native Americans, pioneers, and modern-day farmers, see an evaporator in action, and finish by participating in our taste test challenge to see if you can tell the difference between maple-flavored syrup and the real thing!  Maple syrup & other delicious maple products as well as hot chocolate available for purchase in our Visitors Center gift shop. 

Opening Day Festivities:

MAPLE SUGAR TOURS: 11 am – 3 pm

Saturdays and Sundays; February 23 & 24; March 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 & 17

SUGAR BUSH TOURS: 11 am, 1 pm & 2 pm

A one mile moderate hike through field and forest to the Sugar Bush Shack (terrain and weather conditions dependent)

MAPLE LANE TOURS: 12 pm & 3 pm

Perfect for little legs, a short walk from the visitor center to our Maple Lane Sugar Shack after a tour of the sugar maple stand.
