KINGSTON – Superhero Science Summer Camp @ Nok Bots

In this Level I Engineering program, students explore the physics behind their favorite superhero’s incredible powers. Students learn the momentum, force, and potential energy needed to leap from rooftops, scale walls like a spider, wind up the most powerful punch, and soar through the sky to catch a falling victim. We learn how the shield, cape, and supersuit function as countermeasures to help superheros perform their physics-defying stunts. Students create their own characters and worlds where they design, build, and test their own super-technologies. On the mats students explore the science of dynamic movement through gymnastics.

Monday, August 5 – Friday, August 9, 2019

1 – 4 pm

Ages 5 – 12

Our Summer Camps offer age-appropriate STEAM and Movement programs for children between the ages of 5 and 12.  Through movement training students build strength, balance, and coordination while working together as a group and in pairs. Using Lego® bricks and other building materials, students master the basics of engineering using gears, pulleys, levers, and axles to design construct simple machines, complex machines, and other structures. As they build basic engineering skills, they advance through our programs, and are introduced to robotics, coding, animation, and more. Read more about our curriculum here.

KINGSTON – Dragon Masters Summer Camp @ Nok Bots

Campers in this Level I Engineering program use Lego® bricks to create dragons both friendly and fierce. We study the elements and learn about diverse habitats and climates, and use this knowledge to design original dragons with unique elemental powers, custom-built lairs, and the magical worlds and environments they inhabit. Students engineer bridges and invent other robotic technologies to connect their worlds together for the Great Fire Summit. Through Muay Thai students learn to strike with efficiency and hone their accuracy and alignment through the practice of Archery.

Kids of all ages are welcome to the jam portion with adult supervision, the workshop at the start is suitable for adults and teenagers.

Movement and dance improvisation is about moving from the inside, in a way that feels good and organic to your body, and an Open Movement jam is a setting in which everyone is an equal part of co-creating the dance of the room.

You can come dance your heart out, and you can also just come to stretch quietly, listen, observe, draw and just enjoy the energy and focus of a room full of moving bodies. You can dance alone and you can dance with others, even your stillness is part of the dance that we’ll be co-creating.

It’s about tuning in – to your own body, to the space around you, and to the people you’re sharing it with.

The only requirement is willingness to look, listen and contribute your awareness – because it’s your awareness that’s making it all come to life.
