When the Hudson River and other waterways in the Hudson Valley froze over, boat traffic and seasonal summer jobs such as brick building would end for the winter. Come learn about the 19 century activities and jobs, such as ice harvesting, that were happening during the winter months.

Snacks will be provided!​

We will explore the importance of trains in the Hudson Valley and how their production eventually but the steamboat out of business. We will also learn about the decline of the trains. Those who participate will get to decorate their own train to take home.

Snacks will be provided!​

Family seining (fishing with a net)- Wade into the river to catch and release critters!

Launched June 2013, the Center for the Urban River at Beczak (CURB) is an alliance of Sarah Lawrence College and the Hudson River Valley Environmental Education Institute. The mission of CURB is to advance environmental knowledge and stewardship by providing high quality K-12 environmental education for the local community, establishing a regional hub for research and monitoring focused on Hudson River estuary and urban watershed issues, and serving as a welcoming open community space for a variety of civic and cultural activities.
