Join us for a super fun filled week of theater! Led by Eric Saiet and Gina Samardge, this camp will have the students up on their feet playing theater and improv games, exploring character work, skit writing, and creating original material, as well as looking at scenes from existing plays. They will also get experience on percussion instruments (xylophones, drums and small percussion) as a tool for underscoring their writing or creating a song for a skit.

Come experience all of the benefits that theater has to offer: meeting lifelong new friends, team building exercises, research, working with props and costumes, exploring movement and percussion instruments as ways to help bring writing to life, and other fun activities!

BEACON – Mini-Camp: Drawing From Life (Ages 5-9) @ Beacon Craft Workshop

What makes a drawing look realistic? How do artists portray a 3-D scene on a 2-D panel? In this first drawing and watercolor painting workshop of 2019, Drawing from Life, we’ll explore the tangible world in terms of line, shape, and color.

Monday, August 12 – Thursday, August 15, 2019

3:30 – 5:30 pm

For ages 5 – 9

$160*

Materials included

Each day, we will begin with drawing games to warm up, then we will experiment and explore materials and themes. We will work on still-lives using pencil, charcoal, and India ink. We study flora and fauna in the garden to capture their character on paper. Portraiture will have its time as well, and we will refer to the work of 19th and 20th century artists such as Kahlo, Cezanne, and Picasso to create self-portraits.

On Thursday, at the end of our class time the students will curate an art show for families and friends to enjoy from 5:30 – 6 pm. Throughout, we will share supportive, constructive ideas with each other in this special summer workshop.
