The Beacon Sloop Club’s annual Strawberry Festival is a favorite local event that features two music stages, strawberry shortcake and other treats, educational displays and children’s activities, and dozens of food and craft vendors.
Sunday, June 9, 2019
12 – 5 pm
At the center of the festival is the Strawberry Tent, where fresh made strawberry shortcakes, as well as strawberry smoothies are available for purchase. Along the perimeter of the picnic grounds dozens of craft vendors sell handmade goods and food vendors offer a variety of lunch options.
Along with many free children’s activities there is an environmental education tent with displays and speakers on subjects concerning the Hudson River, pollution, and other environmental issues. There will also be booths from local civic groups, and non-profit organizations.
Two solar-powered music stages offer live music performances throughout the day. As festival goers enjoy the scenic setting of Riverfront Park on the Hudson River’s shores, those who are interested in experiencing the River first hand will be able to sign up for a free sail on the Sloop Woody Guthrie. There will be 5 sails weather permitting. Sign up is available in person at the sloop tent starting at noon.
Last but not least, and new this year, a Strawberry Jam Contest!
Strawberry Fest performers:

Beacon Poet Laureate Peter Ullian will start it all off with an original poem he created to commemorate the festival.
