Learn about the process of making mozzarella cheese from start to finish. Students will learn how to milk our visiting cow Shirley and how the grass she eats becomes the milk we drink. Bring your appetite, we’ll be tasting our homemade cheese!

Come experience winter on the farm though our Winter Farm Tour! We will share with you our favorite places on the property while discussing the ways in which we farm and our diverse work to build a healthy and sustainable food system.

FREE Family Art Project: The Wonder of the Wardian Case @ Wave Hill (Wave Hill House)


Explore the gardens and make nature-inspired creations each Saturday and Sunday morning, from 10 am to 1 pm, in the Sally & Gilbert Kerlin Learning Center.

Artist-led, hands-on workshops incorporating a range of techniques and natural materials introduce families to traditional and contemporary art-making around the world.


The Wonder of the Wardian Case



FREE, and admission to the grounds is free until noon*


Join visiting artist Jan Mun to create a Wardian case, a simple terrarium historically used to transport living plants from the far corners of the globe to enhance the collections of botanical societies, and bring medicinal and agricultural plants to communities around the world. Learn the history of these beautiful structures while you use repurposed materials to make your own, transporting a little bit of nature to your home.


Wave Hill is a spectacular 28-acre public garden and cultural center overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades in the Bronx, Wave Hill’s vibrant landscape is one of the most beautiful spots in New York City.

Awarded the Dutchess Tourism, Inc. Family Fun Award of Distinction, our farms will be set up for farm tours, hay rides, milking demonstrations, local area vendors and more!

With our raw milk dairy Brookby Farm Store and Dairy, our newest stop Harlem Valley Homestead, our goat dairy Hoofprint Cheese Company, our pasture-raised cattle farm J.S.K Cattle Company, LLC, our grass-fed cattle and produce farm Locust Hill Market and our maple farm Soukup Farms, there will be a ton of activities for all!
