Greenburgh Nature Center Summer Camp in Westchester County

Send your child on an outdoor adventure this summer!

Weekly camps from July 6 – August 24, 2020

9:30 am – 1:30 pm*

Half-day camps (For children ENTERING Grades 1-2, 3-4) are $375 per child

* NEW Future STEAM Leaders Camp (Grades 5-6) is $575

Membership is required to register for camp

Camp runs in one-week sessions from early July through the end of August. Each session is tailored to a specific age group. Campers explore the Nature Center’s forest and grounds and help care for the animal residents.

The Greenburgh Nature Center’s summer camps (for children entering grades 1-4) give kids the thrill of connecting with nature as they interact with our live animals, explore miles of hiking trails, create nature-inspired crafts, play games, and much more. Check out our new Future STEAM Leaders Camp (for children entering grades 5-6).

Week 1: Nature Quest

July 6 – 10, 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

GROUP 1 (1st-2nd) REGISTER

Your child will go behind-the-scenes of the Nature Center as they meet and care for the rescued and rehabilitated animals that live on our grounds. Children will learn about animal behavior as they spend time with our furry, feathered and scaly animals. Campers will also explore our fields and trails with engaging activities focused on developing fundamental survival skills.

Week 2: Creature Feature

July 13-17,  9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Each day will feature a new creature from the animal kingdom! We will touch soft fur, dry scales, and fluffy feathers as we explore our animal museum. We will also discover who hides in our forests during the day, and who comes out at night!

Week 3: Stayin’ Alive

July 20-24, 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Your child will learn about wilderness survival as they explore our 33 acres of varied terrain. Campers will participate in activities such as shelter building, animal tracking, and plant identification to foster leadership and critical thinking skills. Campers will also spend time interacting with the Nature Center’s diverse animal population.

Week 4: Radical Reptiles

July 27-31: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

What is cold blooded, has scales and lays eggs? Reptiles of course! Your child will spend the week meeting a wide range of our reptilian friends with an expert naturalist. Give a tortoise a bath, feel the scales of a snake, and dive into the wild world of radiant reptiles.

Week 5: Nature Quest

Group 1 (5th-6th) REGISTER

Practice your scientific observation skills at the nature center this summer! Each day, we will engage in hands-on earth science projects and experience what it means to be a STEAM leader. Projects may include animal behavior observations, plant census, wild poetry, and creating comic strips. On Friday, we will have a science fair showing off the awesome projects we worked on throughout the week.

Refund Policy

For cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of the program date, either a full refund minus 25% or a credit (for the full amount) to be used for a program on a future date will be issued.

For cancellations made less than 30 days prior to the program, there are no monetary refunds but a 50% credit to be used for a program on a future date will be issued.
