Ghost in the Mist Walking Tour with Beacon Historical Society
– A review by Jenalee Amundsen
The Ghost in the Mist Walking Tour 2019, run by the Beacon Historical Society, is a walking tour that brings you throughout the streets of Beacon to different haunted landmarks. They ask you arrive 15 early however they don’t say where. On our tour they had people who were taking the tour meet behind the VFW building, on Main Street, where we found their tent and a huge inflatable ghost. I recommend wearing sneakers or boots because you will be walking through grass, gravel as well. Pets are not allowed and I think children 10 & up would enjoy it the most. They have hot chocolate there for $2 as well.
On the tour, you get to hear five to six historical characters based on real life historical figures who used to reside in Beacon or on the Hudson. Going in and out of alley ways, walking along main street, even visiting a historical home and wooded area is where we found them and heard their stories. If you like tours where it’s not interactive and you get to be in the background and just listen this tour is for you. The tour only has one jump scare that then will make you laugh afterwards and the rest is not spooky at all. It’s full of interesting tales, with all non correlating stories.
The Ghost in the Mist is about an hour long give or take. There is a new tour every 30 minutes and runs from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Ticket prices are $15 for Adults and for those 17 and under it is $10. The tour only runs in the month of October and this weekend 10/25-10/26 is the last weekend to go an experience!
