Willowemoc Wild Forest: Frick Pond Trail

Sunday, January 1, 2024

2 pm

Celebrate the New Year with fresh air and friendly folks on a First Day Hike in Willowemoc Wild Forest’s Frick Pond Trail. This scenic, 2.2-mile loop trail is both inviting for beginners and pleasing to more experienced hikers. Our pathway will take us through a hemlock grotto with views across the pond, across a trail intersection named Times Square, and along the edge of a woodland meadow with a drafty old outhouse. If starting off the New Year with rosy cheeks and sparkling eyes sounds good, this hike is for you!

This hike will be led by Lisa Lyons, owner of Morgan Outdoors.

Special Instructions: Wear waterproof hiking boots and bring traction devices like microspikes or snowshoes (depending on trail conditions). Microspike rentals are available (limited quantity) at Morgan Outdoors, 234 Main Street, Hurleyville, NY. Wear layers that can be easily taken off or added, according to weather and body temperature. We will have a special New Year’s toast after the hike! This event will be held unless there is a blizzard or hazardous driving conditions. Additional hike details and updates will be sent to all registrants. All ages are welcome. Well-behaved pets are allowed on leash with leader approval.
