POUGHKEEPSIE- Making Masterpieces @ The Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum

WEDNESDAYS: September 26 – November 21, 2018

2:30 pm

Cost: $5 per child pair PLUS Museum admission

Museum admission: $9; Free for members and babies under age one

This facilitated art program invites parents and caregivers to work with their pre-school aged children to create something special to take home!  Each month features a new project!

9/26: FAITH RINGGOLD QUILTS 

Children will draw inspiration from learning about artist, Faith Ringgold.  Then they will make quilt art that tells about their own family.

10/10: SPOOKY SHADOW THEATER

Children will get to make and decorate this Halloween-themed mini shadow puppet theater.  Then they’ll get to try out their own ghostly shadow puppets.

10/17: SUGAR SKILLS

Dia de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a popular holiday celebrated in Mexico and around the world on November 1st.  Children will learn about the holiday and decorate their own traditional sugar skull.

Because sugar skills must be made in advance, pre-registration for this program is highly recommended.

11/14: HARVEST WREATHS

Celebrate autumn by making a beautiful wreath using items from nature. This project makes a great decoration for Thanksgiving.

11/21: CORN HUSK DOLLS

This traditional craft was practiced by both Native Americans and European Settlers. Join us and make your own beautiful doll.
